Fire Alarm Estimator

Tacoma, WA
Full Time
Experienced
Why You'll Love This Role: Every alarm system we build starts with an estimate. As Fire Alarm Estimator for our Puget Sound region, you'll turn plans and specs into accurate, competitive bids that win work and set our projects up to succeed. You'll partner with designers, project managers, and field leaders, and you'll build relationships with the general contractors and owners who hire us. If you know alarm systems, enjoy the detail of a good takeoff, and like seeing a bid become a system, this role is for you.

What You'll Do:
  • Bid Review and Qualification: Monitor bid boards, GC invitations, and building management invitations; review plans, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to qualify opportunities that fit our scope and capacity.
  • Layouts and Takeoffs: Develop layouts and material takeoffs for all phases of new construction, remodels, and tenant improvements.
  • Proposals: Prepare clear, competitive proposals with scope narratives, inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications; submit on time and follow up with customers through award.
  • Project Handoff: Hand awarded work to project management and field leadership with a clear scope summary and customer expectations.
  • Cost Data and Vendor Pricing: Maintain historical cost data, labor units, and vendor and subcontractor quotes; compare estimated versus actual costs on completed jobs to sharpen future bids.
  • Project Support: Support projects as needed through design and implementation, including plan review, quality control, and change order pricing.

What We're Looking For:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience: 3+ years of fire alarm estimating, or 5+ years of combined fire-protection design, installation, project management, and estimating experience
  • Certifications: NICET Level II or higher strongly preferred
  • Availability: Full-time in-office, Monday through Friday, 7:00am-4:00pm
  • Compliance: Drug screening and background checks will only be conducted after a conditional job offer is made. We evaluate criminal history based on its relevance to the job duties.
  • Pay: $80,000 - $140,000 per year including incentive opportunities; pay depends on experience and qualifications

Perks of Joining Our Team:
  • Competitive Benefits: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match
  • Professional Development: Company-paid NICET testing, ongoing training, and career advancement opportunities
  • Collaborative Environment: Work with a supportive and enthusiastic team dedicated to excellence
  • Impactful Work: Win the projects that protect lives and property across our region

If you're ready to put your alarm and low-voltage knowledge to work building winning bids, apply now to become our next Fire Alarm Estimator!
